The 5 Love Languages


I love this book because it goes beyond nationality, religion, etc. and gets to the human being in all of us. And it deals with something that we all need to give and receive - love. This is a "must read" for all those who feel they have more to learn about love. If you only have time to read one book this year, this is the book. - Faye Sanderson, My Spiritual Place.com



At first, it may take a little work to understand and apply this simple concept to your relationships. But once that's done, it's easy to give love to those you love in ways that really count for them.

The 5 Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman has a long stint on the best seller's list for a reason. It is helping couples, especially, to keep their marriages fresh and alive. It is also being given out by marriage counsellors to new couples and those seeking counselling for marriages that have gotten past the 'honeymoon stage.

The concept is fairly easy to grasp. There are 5 love languages that people use. We each have a preference of how we like to receive love. If we are giving love using our preferred language and our partner, friend, child, has a different love language preference their love tank is not being filled.

The five love languages are:

  1. Words of Affirmation
  2. Acts of Service
  3. Receiving Gifts
  4. Quality Time
  5. Physical Touch

If you know your love language you can ask others to speak it to you and keep your love tank filled. If you know your partner's love language you can show them love using their love language and keep their tank filled. Full tanks mean more than happy love relationships, they mean folks with high self-esteem who can take on the challenges we all face, these days.

This book is saving people's marriages and helping them with all their relationships.
